In 1910, Barney and Marie Farley arrived on Mustang Island with their two sons, Ray and Barney Jr. In 1915, Barney’s brother, Charles Frederick (C.F.) Farley, arrived in Port Aransas to build boats. C. F. Farley designed and built the first Farley boat at the business he created, “Fred Farley and Sons, Boat Builders.” Established in 1915, Farley boats made by the firm were the boats of their day. In 1937, Barney Farley and his nephew Don took President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his son Elliott tarpon fishing in a Farley boat.

The Port Aransas Garden Club created the Farley boat planters to beautify Port Aransas adding color and plants to honor an important part of our history. The planters are an artistic reproduction of the original Farley boat and a reminder of historic fishing and boat building in the early 1900’s in Port Aransas, Texas.

The Port Aransas Garden Club offers each Farley boat planter for sale including delivery to your residence or business within the City of Port Aransas or loading on your trailer if your location is outside of city limits. The planters are about 6.5 feet long, 2.5 feet wide and weigh about 1800 pounds. The outside has a wood grain texture look. The Farley boat name is on both sides and Port Aransas, Texas is on the “transom.”

If you wish to purchase a Farley boat planter, please complete the Farley Boat Planter Order Form and Purchase Agreement and mail it along with your check of $525.00 through January 31, 2020 to Port Aransas Garden Club, P.O. Box 681, Port Aransas, TX 78373-0681. Starting February 1 the price of the Farley Boat Planter will increase to $525.
